Location


Corsiglia is a remote village located in the appennini hills at 550 (1,804 feet) above sea level surrounded by forests of oaks, chestnuts and beech trees. Spring, summer and fall are warm and pleasant, and never too hot. Nights require a sweater and light jacket. Thousands of hectares of rugged forested open space and hundreds of kilometers of trails surround the village.

Corsiglia is a good base for visiting northwestern Italy, distances from the house include:

The closest airports are Genova (44km), Pisa (158km), Milano Linate (167km), Milano Malpensa (201km) and Nice (236km). The closest Autostrada exits are Genova Est (32km) and Chiavari (32km).

Distances are short and the road from Corsiglia to the base of the valley is beautiful and windy. Corsiglia is reachable by bus with twice-daily service connecting to most other areas in the region. However having a car is strongly recommended. The nearest small store and post office are in Neirone 1.8 km away from the house. Full services such as supermarkets, banks, petrol stations, urgent care, etc. are located in Gattorna at the bottom of the valley, 10 km (20 minutes) from the house.

Corsiglia is a small village of approximately 40 houses and a resident population of approximately 20 people. Up until the early 20th century, inhabitants included farmers and traders working in the neighboring valleys leading to Parma and Piacenza. Today Corsiglia is inhabited primarily in the spring, summer and fall by families and retirees that enjoy quiet village life, good air quality, spring water, and the outdoors.
